Features

The L5 Thermal Pants are an insulation layer for extreme cold. They're made for the moments when you stop moving: sitting on watch, lying in an observation post, waiting for something to happen. Or if you just want to stay cozy while having an après-ski moment or such. Unzip the legs, pull them on over your regular clothing and you're warm in a matter of moments.

Made for actual use

Low activity usually means sitting or lying down, so the seat, knees and shins are reinforced with 500D Cordura. It protects the lightweight outer fabric from abrasion where it takes the most wear.

Two-way side zippers let you put the pants on with your boots on and give you access to the pockets underneath. The leg and fly zippers also work as ventilation when your activity level goes up.

The waist belt closes with a 2M Warrior 25 mm side-release buckle, which is easier to use with gloves on than a G-hook. Once you've adjusted the waist, you can tuck the loose end of the strap inside the channel and out of the way.

On their own?

The L5 Thermal Pants are designed to go over your other pants, but they also work as stand-alone outer pants. The two front thigh pockets aren't full-size cargo pockets, but they fit the essentials. They have a backing fabric, so they keep their shape better.

• Fit: The fit is generous enough to layer over other pants, and the knees are articulated.
• Waist: A built-in adjustable waist belt with a 2M Warrior 25 mm side-release buckle. The loose end of the strap tucks away inside the channel once adjusted. There are suspender loops on the sides.
• Closures: A zipper fly with a button and two-way side leg zippers.
• Cuffs: The cuffs adjust with hook-and-loop. Tighten them over your boots to keep the snow out.
• Pockets: Two front thigh pockets with a backing fabric, plus an external pocket on the right side.
• Reinforcements: The seat, knees, and shins are reinforced with 500D Cordura.
